About LUM
LUM (pronounced loom as in illuminate) makes instruments for emulsion and suspension research and development, quality control, and product optimization. In addition we provide analytical services and technical consultations.
After working with dispersions on a daily basis for many years, a back-ground in bio-rheology and colloid chemistry, it soon became evident to Professor D. Lerche that traditional methods to analyze emulsions and suspensions had severe limitations. They were either too cumbersome, time-consuming, or gave subjective results.
With this in mind Professor D. Lerche decided to develop a new innovative means to analyze and understand the properties of emulsions and suspensions. This technique had to be versatile, easy to use, exceptionally accurate, give fast results, and sensitive enough to measure even the smallest changes occurring.
Thus, on a sunny summer day in 1994, LUM was founded in a small laboratory at one of the world's leading research institutions, Humbolt University, in Berlin, Germany.
From these humble beginnings, LUM has emerged as one of the leading global companies providing powerful solutions for those working with emulsions and suspension. Today LUM dispersion analyzers are found all over the world at leading companies and research institutions.
In fact, many of the products that you use on a daily basis, have LUM DNA in them. By continuously investing in our people and R&D, we are able to offer you new ways and means to advance your knowledge and goals, no matter how big or small.
